SANTA

Santa comes from a character in European folklore from the character Nicholas of Myra , was a Greek born in Asia Minor in the third century AD in the city of Patara (Lycia et Pamphylia), a port city on the Mediterranean Sea, and lived in Myra, Lycia (now part of Demre, Turkey). He was the only child of a well-to-do Christian family named Epiphanius (Ἐπιφάνιος) and Johanna (Ἰωάννα) or Theophanes (Θεοφάνης) and Nonna (Νόννα) according to another version. Nicholas was a bishop who gave gifts to the poor. Santa figures later became an important part of the Christmas tradition in the western world as well as in Latin America , Japan and other parts of East Asia . Santa's Day is celebrated around the world every December 6th .
